Fabienne Cherisma: A Picture of a Dead Haitian Girl Surrounded by Photographers

On January 19, 2010, 15-year old Fabienne Cherisma died from a stray bullet while scavenging for supplies in the earthquake-ravaged city of Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Barely a week after the devastating 2010 Haitian Earthquake which killed more than 300,000 people, the death of one girl sparked more controversy about the disaster than before. It was because of the above photograph, showing a  group of journalists flocking together to take a picture of the dead Haitian girl.

Random Guy Crashes Oscars Party, Takes Pictures With Celebrities

In photography, especially in photojournalism where the subject and situation might disappear in the blink of an eye, the first rule for photographers is to get close. The second rule is to get closer. These rules aren't always possible to follow, more so when it comes to politicians and other celebrities, but this random guy dude managed to deliver, and then some. A few years ago, one incredibly lucky, random guy crashed into an Oscars party, took amateur pictures with celebrities, and lived to tell the tale.

National Geographic's Found Tumblr Blog

This year, National Geographic Society is celebrating its 125th anniversary. Over its long history of exploration and education, the institution has collected thousands of images taken by their esteemed photographers. As part of its year-long celebration, National Geographic launched its Nat Geo Found, a Tumblr blog which features a collection of its visual treasures.
