Adrift
With the news currently flooded with the news of Osama bin Laden's death, it would be a good breather to feature something different. Finishing off the first part of this blog's first astronomy series is a post that features neither a photograph nor a photographer. Instead, it's an amazing piece of artwork from a very talented artist.
This beautiful art print is entitled Adrift and is by artist Jeremy Geddes. This is the latest in his series of cosmonaut-themed paintings, although he also does other superb photo-realistic paintings as well.
This particular painting definitely bears some resemblance to the spacewalk photograph that was previously featured, although the message here may be a bit more morbid. Still, it is a spectacular image.

ReplyDeleteA very kewl picture. He's got some talent.

ReplyDeletewow great picture...
ReplyDeleteit looks great, but then I pictured what the dudes face would look like that that broken visor of his and cringed a bit.

ReplyDeleteThats a cracking picture you posted. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteAt first sight, I wasn't completly sure if this was a picture or not Oo
ReplyDeleteGreat artwork.
agreed sick of the headlines
ReplyDeleteexcellent post btw
geddes is a talented man love his work
It's hard to create a narrative for this one. I suppose the only way it makes sense is if the bird was frozen and just bounced off the astronauts face shield.
ReplyDeleteWithout a narrative it's kind of a silly painting.
im gonna check out his website :D love this pic
ReplyDeleteWow that's very cool!

ReplyDeleteWow, look at the transitions between light and dark.
ReplyDeleteAmazing pic!
ReplyDeleteIt looks like there should be a space horse beneath him, but maybe he's been cloaked? You have to drop your shields to cloak though, that's probably why the bird has gotten so close to him.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting.
it's amazing, there are people truly skilled.
