Alfred Stieglitz: Moving Photography into the Modern Age


During the earliest decades of photography, the medium was in the hands of scientists and technicians who were well versed in its technical aspects. In order for photography to truly flourish, it needed the guidance of artists as well as businessmen who could bring the medium to the masses while keeping its artistic integrity intact. Alfred Stieglitz was such a man, and through his efforts moved photography into the modern age, relatively speaking.

The 2013 Pulitzer Prize Winners for Photography


This week, the 2013 Pulitzer Prize Winners were announced which included awardees in the Breaking News Photography and Feature Photography categories of photojournalism. Since its inception, the Pulitzer Prizes have helped recognize excellence in many fields, most notably in journalism. The tradition continues this year, with five winners sharing one prize, and both categories sharing a distressing theme.

The Most Expensive Photos In the World (An Update)


About two years ago, this blog featured a list of the most expensive photographs ever sold. The post garnered plenty of comments regarding the market value of photographs versus their true value, as well as photography as an art form. Since that time, a few new (and old) photos have been auctioned off at record prices, and this quick update is meant to list down these additions to the list of most expensive photos in the world.
